How often should I have a dental check-up?
For most patients, we recommend a routine assessment every six months. However, based on your specific oral health profile, Dr Max Leslie may suggest a more frequent or extended interval to maintain clinical stability.
What happens during a new patient dental exam in Cambridge?
As a new patient, your first visit is a "Patient Discovery" session. It includes a full clinical exam, digital X-rays, gum health screening, and a consultation to discuss your history and goals.
Are dental X-rays safe?
Yes. Darwin Dental uses modern digital radiography, which utilizes significantly lower radiation than traditional film X-rays while providing much higher clarity for diagnosis.
Will I get my teeth cleaned during a check-up?
A check-up is a diagnostic assessment. Professional cleaning is performed by our dental hygienist. While these are separate clinical roles, we often coordinate appointments so you can see both on the same day for convenience.
Why do I need a check-up if my teeth don't hurt?
Many dental issues, such as early-stage decay or gum disease, do not cause pain until they are advanced. Regular check-ups allow us to intervene early with minimally invasive treatments, saving you time and cost in the long run.
Do you screen for oral cancer?
Absolutely. A comprehensive soft-tissue and oral cancer screening is a mandatory part of every assessment at Darwin Dental.
How long does a standard dental appointment take?
A routine assessment typically takes 20 to 30 minutes, whereas a New Patient Discovery session is more in-depth, usually lasting around 45 minutes to ensure we cover all aspects of your health.
